Channels, The Australian Video Art Festival is dedicated to showcasing new contemporary moving image by some of the most exciting Australian and international artists. Following on from the success of our 2013 and 2015 events, Channels Festival is back for 2017 with a dynamic and inclusive festival of public engagement programs, free exhibitions, screenings and international and online programs.
They’re currently seeking single-screen videos under 15 minutes for the popular Video Visions screening to be held at the Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI) in Melbourne. Submissions are open to both Australian and International artists.

The Hill End Artists in Residence Program began as a partnership between Bathurst Regional Council and curator Gavin Wilson in 1995. Since then the program has grown into one of Australia’s most sought after residencies. The Residency Program allows contemporary Australian and international artists the chance to experience and respond to the historically charged landscape of Hill End.
Visual artists, writers/curators and new media/film/video artists are invited to apply for the 2017 season of residencies at Hill End.
Successful applicants spend 4 weeks living and working in either Haefligers Cottage or Murrays Cottage during the period March 2017 to March 2018.

_IN RESIDENCE is an invitation to join an artist in the exploration or making of a new work. It is an invitation to explore matter together. It is like being invited in someone’s kitchen, ingredients already chosen but the dish is yet to be tried and tested and everyone in the room is invited to have a go at making and tasting it.
You are invited to join YANIRA CASTRO research her new work, CAST. CAST places the focus on the cast of a performance. What is the relationship of individuals in the cast to aesthetics, representation and abstraction? In this residency-lab, you will meet, converse and create video recordings to investigate these questions vis-à-vis the experience of Australian performers.

Artz Blitz 2016

5 – 12 August 2016
Artz Blitz is a 24 Hour visual art and creative writing competition with $4000 in prizes to be won. Open to artists of all ages and abilities working in 2-Dimensional, 3-Dimensional, digital and literary arts.
The competition will begin when a secret theme is announced on Friday 5 August, 2016 from which artists will have 24 hours to create an artwork and deliver it to Kingston Arts Centre in Moorabbin. Creative writers will then commence writing on Friday 12 August at 5pm and will also have 24 hours to complete a work based on a visual artwork submitted to this year’s competition.
