TempContemp @ Northcity4

TempContemp is NorthCity4’s very own brand-spanking-new in-studio gallery! Under the curatorial guidance of a trio team consisting of Anna Gray, Laila Marie Costa and Annelies Hofmeyr, this pilot project is now ready to show all things Contemporary Jewellery! The aims of this space are to explore Contemporary Jewellery: What is it? Who makes it? Who wears is? What can it be? And to examine, and if need be, interrogate the systems that support Contemporary Jewellery (or hold it back). We want to share these ideas, enthusiasm and education for Contemporary Jewellery with our jeweller community as well as a wider, non-jeweller public. Without further ado, we’d like to invite applications in any and all forms of Contemporary Jewellery that relate to a cracker of a first show theme: I HATE CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY. The inaugural exhibition will form part of CRAFT CUBED and we’re asking makers and thinkers of Contemporary Jewellery to examine what we each love/hate about our current landscape: To defend it, applaud it, question it, seek to improve, or damn it as you see fit. Applications due Friday 6 July 2018 Due to a tight turnaround we are looking for existing work, but welcome a range of work from object, image, performance, projection or installation to writing and just about anything you can think of. Check out TempContemp on Facebook and Instagram And head to the Gallery page on the Northcity4 website for more information, pertinent dates and How To Apply. read more
