Science Friction ends tomorrow

The Moreland Summer Show was open to contemporary artists or collectives who live, work, study or base their creative practice in the City of Moreland.

This year applicants were asked to consider in their contemporary practice a response to the theme ‘Science Friction’.

We live in a time of astonishing scientific and technological development, previously considered the stuff of fantasy. Similarly the world of contemporary art has generally embraced the possibilities that new materials and imaging technologies offer. In both cases the transition is not always smooth, or welcomed by all. While excitement and curiosity follow invention and newness it can also leave us feeling confused, ambivalent or obsolete. The postscript is always – What next?
