‘Lullaby Choir’ brings communities together through the power of song
An innovative new project is bringing the diverse communities of Melbourne’s north together, one song at a time.
The Lullaby Project, a joint initiative of the Centre for the History of Emotions at The University of Melbourne and Coburg’s VICSEG New Futures, aims to promote cultural connection and conciliation through the lullabies that soothe babies the world over.
The choir is a welcoming space to share and sing lullabies from different parts of the world. So far the choir has trained and performed lullabies in Hindi, Tagalog, Portuguese, Arabic and Sinhala! And currently working on a lullaby in Gunggari form the Maranoa community of West Queensland.
The Lullaby Choir meets fortnightly on Fridays for a 90-minute cultural exchange and singing session supported by music professionals, master classes and workshops.
This is a free, community event open to all
