Director/Producer/Cinematographer: Genevieve Bailey grew up in Melbourne and her love of capturing moving images began early, from age 8. Since then Genevieve has produced over 40 short films, documentaries and music videos.Genevieve’s films have screened internationally at festivals and have picked up over 25 awards to date.
I AM ELEVEN, her first feature documentary, has won awards in Australia, USA, Spain, Brazil and France. I AM ELEVEN was heralded a ‘Triumph of Self-Distribution’ by The Australian newspaper after a record theatrical release in Australia spanning over 8 months. The film became the highest grossing Australian documentary to be released in the US – playing for 17 months and reaching over 100 cities. I AM ELEVEN was also named New York Times Critic’s Pick on its opening weekend September 2014. Genevieve also founded the Melbourne documentary community ‘doco3000 and her production company ‘Proud Mother Pictures’, which has a number of new projects in development including HAPPY SAD MAN. This feature length documentary is an intimate portrait of manhood and wellbeing that unpicks assumptions and resists generalisations.
