Yarra Council is calling for artists to exhibit a series of four works at Carlton Library, as part of the Yarra Light Box Public Art Program. Applicants must provide a concise written statement outlining the visual and conceptual aspects of the proposed work and how it will contribute to the site and program; they must also include information detailing their professional practice. This is an opportunity to create a unique artistic statement on a busy, inner city street.
Artists should be mindful of the key audience for the Light Boxes that includes users of the Carlton Library, local residents, pedestrians, nearby business patrons and commuters along Rathdowne Street.
Each selected artist will receive a fee of $2,000. This fee is inclusive of all costs involved with the creation of the works including artist fee, production of digital files to specifications for printing, transport and administration etc.
